What is a Device?

In the context of the Streams application, a device is an abstract representation of a real-world, physical piece of technology. In any organization, a data representation of the real-world devices serves to simplify change tracking, live monitoring of changes in state, sending data and receiving data. Your cloud Streams interface can be thought of as a system with inputs and outputs.

Any device with inputs (sensors, data streams, etc) or outputs (relays, data streams, etc) can be managed via the Streams cloud application.

Some examples of devices include:

  • Security Camera

  • Thermal Camera

  • Access Control System

  • Alarm Panel

  • Network Video Recorder

  • Analog DVR

  • Network Appliance

  • Barcode Scanner

  • IoT Sensors
